In the spring of 2021, my then-fiance Nick and I walked across the street with that fresh, newly engaged glow and grabbed a corner table in the bar area of Postino on Broadway in Denver. After a couple of hours, several glasses of wine, and a killer bruschetta board, we had dreamt up a vision for our perfect wedding.
Full disclosure: we’d both been married before. He’d had a big, traditional wedding at a mansion in Ohio, and I’d eloped to an all-inclusive Jamaican resort. We knew we wanted to do something different, and we knew that our priority was to provide our closest friends and family with a super unique, and above all – FUN – experience that authentically represented our relationship and commitment to each other. And we couldn’t imagine a better place to do that than in Sin City. Vegas, Baby!
Our vision was to throw a house-party-style bash in one of those epic Vegas suites – think the Hangover or Vegas Vacation. No sit-down dinner for us. Instead, we’d have party food scattered around for people to graze on throughout the night. The bar would be fully stocked and generously flowing, especially with all the fixings for margaritas and negronis. Our guests would be invited to dress in their dream Vegas ensembles – sequins, feathers, and Elvis-inspired couture were highly encouraged. Oh yeah, and there would be karaoke. So. Much. Karaoke.
Sounds simple enough, right? But when we set out to start booking vendors, we didn’t see ourselves or our vibe anywhere in the wedding world. Even in Las Vegas! Instagram and Pinterest were FULL of ideas for beautiful, neutral palette, desert weddings or glamorous ballroom bashes, but our colorful, offbeat, and intimate, not-your-average wedding didn’t seem to exist in the wedding industry.
So we pieced it together ourselves, and it turned out exactly as we had pictured. It was our favorite day ever, and our friends and family won’t stop talking about it (and we’ll never ask them to!). And I have to admit, I had a blast doing it!
This is what Hitched AF is about – taking your vision, no matter how far outside of the box you want to go, and turning it into your perfect day. Do traditional wedding venues bore you? Let’s find a space that will serve as the perfect backdrop for your whimsical wedding fantasy. Don’t want to ask your guests to choose “chicken or steak” on your RSVP card? Let’s create a menu that includes your favorite foods, the dishes that remind you of home, or the fast food you can’t live without (Taco Bell wedding, anyone?). Tired of neutral floral arrangements and blush and gold tablecloths? Ugh, me too! Let’s choose a color palette that brings you joy and we’ll add some wonderfully weird accents that let your guests see your personalities. That’s what they’re there to celebrate after all, amiright?
Yes, we’re going to spend some money to make it happen. But I promise you we won’t WASTE money on unnecessarily expensive, traditional, BORING wedding nonsense that doesn’t represent you anyway. This is going to be one of the most important and memorable days of your lives, and we’re going to do it your way. Sound good? Inquire today and let’s get planning!
